 | WISHING YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS | | | | | from sblogit.com ... | Posted by Steffi Lewis on 23/12/2011 |
It's amazing how in the space of just a single year a new idea can be turned into something that is alive, growing and thriving. From its early foundations sblogit.com has become everything I wanted it to be and more ...
 a merry christmas from sblogit.com
I remember sitting here last Christmas, all fired up with new ideas, goals, motivation and direction after my Practitioner course with my friends Faz and Pip at Edge NLP. I already had the basic platform created but it was still very much a personal tool rather than one that could be given to customers to promote themselves.
Back then my whiteboards were covered with random scribbling of concepts, thoughts and ideas. Massive sweeping flowcharts showed how modules would be built and how they would connect to each other. Now they have schedules, prospect lists and new ideas waiting to be added to the platform to the benefit of all of our clients. The only similarity is the tinsel along the top of them to remind a programmer that it is in fact Christmas!
2011 has been a bit of a struggle though. To start a brand new company, based on unproven software is always a risk and I don't think I realised just how much work I would have to put into the business to move it to where it is today. Finishing at 11pm after a full day has become the norm now and my social life was sacrificed for most of the year although I am pleased to say that I've reclaimed some of my weekends and spend as much time as I can with my friends.
But ... it has been absolutely brilliant to see sblogit.com grow and thrive by my own hand. To be a developer, a manager, an editor and an entrepreneur - all rolled into one - has been a fabulous learning experience and, although very difficult at times - both from a business and personal perspective - I wouldn't change a thing about 2011. It has taught me so much.
And what about next year - where do I see it going? A lot of new clients! Business blogging is becoming more and more important in promoting a brand, either large or small. Companies have to realise social media is here to stay and that business blogging is the core of that channel, pulling together their Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn activity, giving customers and prospects alike an opportunity to see why they're the best at what they do and why they should do business with them.
I have lofty goals but I have realistic targets. I will be in San Francisco for my birthday next summer and by this time next year I will be writing business plans ready for major investment in 2013 to extend the reach of sblogit.com and offer its benefits to more and more businesses.
I'd like to thank all of our clients. From those early pioneers who knew their blog could fall over at a moment's notice to the latest trial clients coming online next week and in the New Year. Thank you for your belief in me and for your faith in sblogit.com.
And a big thank you to everyone who has visited and read a post on sblogit.com or one of our clients blogs, then shared it out to their own friends. I'm glad you were able to find value in the words and I very much welcome you all back for even more awesome writing in 2012.
But most of all, a special thank you to my friends who have stood by me through thick and thin this year. For your support, your belief, your words of encouragement and acts of random kindness when I really needed it ... thank you. I couldn't have done this without you. You all know who you are.
A Merry Christmas to you all, and a very happy and prosperous New Year.
